I used to consider myself a Democrat thru out the years I have learned that the Democrat party is just as corrupt as the Republican Party. There isn’t a party in the USA that represents the values of the majority of Americans. I want to be able to choose a candidate that is not beholden to a specific party but to the people it represents. I am tired of having to choose the best of two bad candidates. I want a True Democracy!

I am an independent voter because I want the freedom to choose my candidate based on their political stance on issues that are important to me and not because of what party they belong tom.

Because the world state right now forced me into a position where I couldn’t do anything I wanted to do. The country is run by a two party system which is broken and unjust and we need to fix it by changing voting patterns by voting third party and end the two party system

Born and raised in the Deep South (Louisiana) and a Navy veteran, one would expect my loyalty to the Republican Party. But, like religion, when one group tells me what to believe or not believe or infringes upon my freedom of choice, I do not wish to follow any particular party. I will chose my candidate based on experience, not on what PAC tells me to.

Because neither one of the political parties care about the working or middle class Americans in this country and independent should be allowed in debates also

I lean firmly towards the Left. Always have, probably always will. But I’m so tired of the Democratic Party relying on ineffectual “lesser of two evils” campaigns. The two party system, as it stands now, has only strengthened the resolve of radicalized candidates while weakening moderates that could bring bipartisan common sense to the table. Republicans used to run on having smaller government, now they want to legislate every book and bathroom break. Democrats, flip side, say they are the humanitarian, caring party, while supporting drone strikes and genocide and not doing nearly enough work to actually appease their main voter poll. Reading the comments below, I don’t have a lot in common with some folks on this page. However, I want to assure any conservatives reading this that the Left, the true Left, hates the current Democratic Party just as much as you do. We deserve not only better candidates, but a destruction of the notion that we have to settle for the “lesser of two evils”. And before I jump off my soapbox, I have three more words: ranked choice voting.

I am a staunch Trump supporter but other than him and a few republicans (Jim Jordan, Matt Gates. Tim Scott and a few others)

They mostly complain yet do little. Our country is on the verge of being taken over by power hungry lunatics. It is time for real Americans who love this country to take it back

I want to vote for Claudia DeLaCruz and she is running and not even in the debate. The 2 big parties have locked out all other presidential candidates in the media because it’s run by the democrats

Both parties represent the extreme of their party!

Neither party fully shares my views!

I am sick of the runaway spending!

Tired of blaming Social Security and Medicare as the issue and give money away we don’t have!

    Tired of being world cop!

Border is not controlled no country in the world allows this foolishness!

Always money for foreign companies and corporations but not for those that works lifetime or have time to serve this country!

Term limits we all want them yet nothing happens.

I am pissed off and afraid America is going to fall due to these parties!

I have voted for both republicans and democrats. I believe both are owned by corporations and corrupt. I believe we will as a country continue to divide and become weaker and vulnerable if we do not unite on our common good. The parties are exploiting socially triggering subjects to divide us all more and keep us distracted from what’s really important. Our health, quality of life, ability to earn livable wages and afford higher education, clean food and water, accountable healthcare and environmental agencies, public servants and their military industrial complex.

I became an independent voter after Donald Trump was voted in office. Once he won the election, I told all my friends he would show all the corruption in our political system. But what I did not realize was what else would come out of him being in office. Our country let out the hate and greed of the capitalist system. While Donald Trump was allowing the cooperations to do whatever they want, the rest of us suffered. And we are still suffering. That is when I decided to write the Anti-self Regulation Act and the Anit propaganda and disinformation Act. These acts are for the federal and state governments, it will give terms, remove money from politics, retirement age and make lobbyist, think tanks and super packs illegal. However, I am need help to write it into constitutional law.

I am an independent voter because my values and beliefs don’t align 100% with either party. I think it is time for some new blood in politics, and there should be a term limit for senators. Being in office for life is not ok. Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

I choose to be independent because in my view, both parties are broken and corrupt. There is far too much money at play through all of our elections, at the local level all the way to the Presidential contest. All we have as Citizens is our vote. Therefor, I choose to vote for the individual who I see as most likely to do what is good for the majority of Citizens.

Politics in the United States is an exercise of liberty and freedom; it’s about thinking for yourself. I don’t like the major issues party system.

I am an independent voter because I don’t feel like neither the Republican, nor the Democrat party has my best interest in my mind when they legislate. The politicians in bother parties are just in it for themselves.

I was/am an independent voter because I have always, until the advent of Trump, voted for policies rather than people. The two-party system with closed primaries favors the more extreme candidates in that only the most passionate members of each party tend to vote in primaries, thus the candidates are those with positions favored by the most passionate partisans. I remain independent at heart but registered as Democrat in 2026 solely because I saw the danger of Trump and wanted to be able to vote in the primary. I would prefer a system like Vermont’s where every registered voter gets primary ballots for all candidates and decides their preferred candidates regardless of party. I would also prefer a ranked choice ballot for the general election and elimination of the Electoral Collge. That combination would ensure that everyone’s vote would weigh equally and the winner would actually have majority support.

My family growing-up was very conservative and Republican oriented. When old enough to vote however, I looked at all candidates running, especially for President to see which I felt was the most qualified. It was then that I became a Democrat (mid-60’s) mainly because of John F. Kennedy. I remained affiliated with the Democrat party for the next 50+ years. In hindsight I regret that but candidates like George Bush and his son were people I felt could not be trusted. Now I see that none of them could with very few exceptions like Jimmy Carter. Fast forward to 2016 and what the DNC did putting Hillary Clinton up as their candidate when all the polls showed Bernie Sanders as the popular candidate. I was angered to the point of changing to being an Independent voter and realized neither party was totally good… or totally bad either. Now I listen to candidates and, more importantly, watch what they actually do whatever their party affiliation.

I favor open primaries, more one-on-one debates between candidates, and a cap on campaign spending… I won’t hold my breath on that one. I don’t like the main-in ballot form of voting as we have here in Oregon as it is too easy to interfere with as we saw in the 2020 election (watch 2000 Mules if you want to see why). Let’s face it, it probably isn’t about parties, it is about candidates with integrity who are not beholding to moneyed interests/persons/idealogies. Also candidates who actually love our country, our Bill of Rights and our beloved Constitution which seem to be rare these days (with the exception of President Trump). I am pleased to see Robert Kennedy, Jr. shaking things up and hope he has great success in his campaign as we need some real candidates to choose from, not senile/dementia impaired lifetime politicians like we currently have supposedly running our country. I feel like our nation cannot withstand another four years of the insanity that is prevailing in Washington throughout most of the administration, with the exception of a handful of Senators and Representatives who actually are attempting to stand-up against the tyranny. I lost hope for the Republican Party when I realized how infiltrated it was with those we know as RINO’s that undermine any attempts to right our sinking ship.

In a time when geriatrics, out of touch, and legally and emotionally questionable candidates are my only options, I feel it is time to open up the choices that make better sense. It’s time to be rid of the old and old fashioned quard running this country.

I’m 62 years old & I lost respect & trust with both parties because of trying to vote for the lesser of 2 evils & our wonderful country doesn’t seem to want a third party to mess up what they have going like your opening comments it’s like Independents don’t want to participate but that could’t be farther from the truth so until this Country shakes up the grip the 2 parties have more & more will become Independent or not vote

I am a member of the Bahai faith, and as a Baha’i, we do not enter into the political arena however we choose whom we will vote for as we observe the choices when the election time nears. We study. Observe. Watch. We do not run for office. We don’t become politically involved, rather we work to promote peaceful results of conflict, but not by entering the political arena. Consultation. Peaceful means as much as possible.

I was introduced to RFK Jr. through some friends on Facebook after our family suffered severe medically related injuries. I became disabled myself and researched ferociously to find out what happened to our family’s health. I was appalled to learn of the cover ups that protected industry while leaving sensitive people out on their own. All of our systems we thought were built to protect us were causing us incredible harm; insult to injury. I have been praying for a New Guard to take over, one that will heal our nation and our children, instead of treating us to a toxic death. My prayers are coming true, and I AM grateful. When my family is healed, I will serve Humanity in the best ways I know how. I AM called to do so. Thank you for this opportunity to join others like me and for helping revive empathy, compassion and love in our children’s lives.

I became an independent due to the public blindness on the ineptitude of the two candidates running. We need a legitimate third party to counteract the terrible spending policies of both parties. I can’t believe out of 300,000,000 Americans this is our best two options.

I would like to suggest that everyone who doesn’t like either candidate and feels that our system is broken, go and vote for your favorite dead president as an act of civil protest. The idea is that if more people vote off the ballot and write in a proxy than actually voted for a candidate, and better yet if more people voted for a single dead president than voted for a candidate. That would send the message that needs to be heard by all of us and we the people, through the internet can start working on solutions. And even though one of the candidates will win, they will take the oath knowing that most people voted for a dead president than voted for them. And that will give us 4 years to legally and peacefully start the process of putting in place the changes necessary to keep the revolution going.
